Preparations underway for a grand event to connect Non-Resident Rajasthanis; CM directs extensive publicity
Jaipur, 19 November.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that Pravasi Rajasthani Day is not just an event but a comprehensive roadmap reflecting the contribution of our overseas Rajasthani community in the journey of a developed Rajasthan. He said that during the sectoral sessions on key areas such as education, health, industry, tourism and water, there will be in-depth deliberations on the state's emerging industrial landscape and investment opportunities.
“Our objective is that through these sessions, every Non-Resident Rajasthani feels connected to their home state, and these discussions become a means to bring this roadmap into practical action.”
Sharma was addressing a review meeting held in the Chief Minister's Office regarding the preparations for Pravasi Rajasthani Day. He said that the state government is organizing Pravasi Rajasthani Day for the first time on 10 December in honour of the overseas community. Therefore, extensive publicity through various platforms must be ensured so that this grand event reaches every Non-Resident Rajasthani and becomes a historic opportunity to unite our brothers and sisters across the globe.
Sectoral Sessions to Host Dialogues with Experts and Reputed Institutions
The meeting was informed that sectoral sessions would be organized on various themes to introduce the overseas community to the opportunities available in the state and to gather their suggestions. Experts from IITs, IIMs, industrial groups, healthcare institutions, and various international organizations will take part in these sessions.
Institutions such as Birla Institute, IIM, IIT, and Delhi Public School, UAE, will participate in the education session. In the health session, experts including the Director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences and the CFO of Tata 1MG will share their experiences. Similarly, industry sessions will include dialogues with Welspun India Ltd. and Borosil Renewables Ltd., while water sessions will feature experts from Ecolab India, the National Institute of Urban Affairs, and others.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to finalize the list of invited speakers and participants for these sectoral sessions.
Showcasing Rajasthan’s Rich Heritage and Development Journey
He said that the event would showcase Rajasthan’s rich heritage along with the state’s development journey. Hence, the achievements, innovations, and milestones of Developed Rajasthan and the state government should be displayed through exhibitions, ensuring quality and timely execution of all arrangements.
He also instructed that cultural programs should prominently feature the state’s folk arts and culture. The selection process for the Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Awards must be transparent, impartial, and aligned with predefined criteria.
Sharma said that detailed plans for security, traffic, parking, reception, and protocol for the event at JECC, Jaipur, must be implemented on time. Responsibilities should also be defined for ensuring hospitality, transport, accommodation, medical, and emergency services during the event.
Growing Participation of Non-Resident Rajasthanis
A presentation in the meeting highlighted that, to ensure maximum participation, the Rajasthan Foundation’s chapters and overseas organizations are actively encouraging members to join. A large number of Non-Resident Rajasthanis are registering for the event. It was also informed that the screening committee has completed evaluation of the applications received for the Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Award.
About Pravasi Rajasthani Day
It is noteworthy that during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced that 10 Dece
mber would be celebrated annually as ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Day’ and that a dedicated department for Non-Resident Rajasthanis would be established.
Accordingly, on the upcoming 10 December, sectoral sessions on industry, tourism, education, healthcare, and water will be held, along with the presentation of the Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Awards. A special NRR Open House will also be organized to discuss opportunities in industry and other sectors with Non-Resident Rajasthanis.
The Cabinet has approved the proposal to form the Department of National and International Non-Resident Rajasthani Affairs to facilitate dialogue and cooperation between the overseas Rajasthani community and the state government.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and senior officials from the concerned departments.
